We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our People & Culture team, based in our Brisbane CBD office with regular travel to our Curragh Mine site in Blackwater, Central Queensland.
About the Role
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will partner closely with leaders across the business, providing practical, trusted and commercially focussed HR advice, coaching and support across a broad range of people matters.
A key focus of this role will be employee and industrial relations. You will provide expert advice to leaders on complex ER / IR matters including the interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, industrial strategy, workforce change and employee relations issues. You will also contribute to enterprise agreement negotiations and other industrial processes, working collaboratively with leaders, employees and relevant stakeholders to achieve sustainable business outcomes.
This is a varied HR partnering role where you will work alongside leaders to navigate complex people and industrial matters and deliver initiatives that support strong business and people outcomes.
Regular travel to the Curragh site in Blackwater will be required to build strong relationships with operational leaders and employees and provide in person HR support.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Build strong and trusted partnerships with leaders, providing timely, practical and commercially focused HR advice and coaching.
- Interpret and advise on the application of enterprise agreements, employment legislation, policies and industrial instruments, ensuring consistent and compliant application across the business.
- Support and contribute to enterprise agreement negotiations and industrial bargaining, including preparation, stakeholder engagement, consultation and implementation.
- Coach and support leaders in managing complex employee relations matters, including performance management, grievances, workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, misconduct and absence management.
- Provide advice and support on industrial disputes, consultation processes and workforce change, helping leaders navigate risks and achieve effective outcomes.
- Partner with leaders through organisational change, providing communication, consultation and change management support.
- Support the development, review and implementation of HR policies, procedures and people initiatives, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and industrial instruments.
- Use HR data and insights to support workforce planning, reporting and informed decision-making.
- Regularly travel to the Curragh site in Blackwater to support operational leaders and employees and maintain strong workforce relationships.
About You
You are an experienced HR professional and trusted business partner who is confident operating in a complex industrial and employee relations environment. You bring strong commercial judgement, the ability to influence leaders and the confidence to navigate challenging and sometimes sensitive workplace matters.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally within mining, resources, heavy industry or another highly industrialised environment.
- Significant Employee Relations and Industrial Relations experience, with a strong understanding of Australian employment legislation and industrial frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying enterprise agreements, including providing advice to leaders on entitlements, conditions, classifications and other industrial provisions.
- Experience contributing to or leading enterprise agreement negotiations and industrial bargaining processes, including preparation, consultation, negotiation and implementation.
- Proven ability to coach, influence and build credibility with leaders at all levels, including operational leaders.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Employment Relations or a related discipline.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
