About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Services Superintendent to lead the operational Mining Engineering team at our Curragh South open cut operation. Reporting to the Manager Mining, this role is responsible for providing technical leadership across short term planning, drill and blast coordination, production support, and operational execution.

This is a critical site leadership role where you will work closely with Mining, Planning, Geology, Drill and Blast, and contractor teams to ensure plans are practical, executable, and aligned with production, safety, and cost objectives.

Your leadership will ensure technical plans translate effectively into operational performance while developing capability within the Mining Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational Mining Engineers
• Provide technical oversight of short term mine plans, pit designs, and production sequencing
• Ensure alignment between operational execution and technical plans
• Support drill and blast planning and execution to optimise safety and productivity
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation
• Work closely with Operations to resolve technical challenges and support production targets
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and company procedures
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across technical and operational functions
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contract partners

About You 

You are an experienced mining leader with strong technical capability and a practical, operational mindset. You are comfortable leading teams in a fast paced mining environment and translating technical plans into safe, efficient execution.

You will bring:

• Extensive experience in open cut coal mining, ideally within Technical Services or Operational Engineering
• Proven leadership experience mentoring and developing Mining Engineers
• Strong understanding of short term planning, pit design, and operational mining requirements
• Practical knowledge of drill and blast coordination and production support
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent
