We are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer – Haulage Scheduling to join our onsite Technical Services team at the Curragh Complex. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role is critical to the delivery of effective haulage schedules, dump designs and production reporting across Curragh North and Curragh South open cut operations.
About the Role
As Senior Mining Engineer – Haulage Scheduling, you will lead the development of haulage schedules, dump designs and associated modelling to support safe, compliant and efficient mining operations across the Complex.
This is a highly collaborative role working closely with Operations, Medium Term Planning, Geotechnical, Rehabilitation, Contracts and site leadership to ensure plans are understood, executable and aligned with forecast, budget and rehabilitation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the monthly 16-week haulage schedule and associated dump designs for Curragh North and Curragh South.
- Lead dump design and haulage modelling to support forecast and budget scheduling processes, including medium-term reserves.
- Reconcile monthly haulage schedules, ensuring spatial compliance and alignment with contractual rise and run requirements.
- Design and optimise rehabilitation and topsoil management plans in conjunction with haulage strategies.
- Review haulage modelling assumptions to ensure realistic, accurate and value-driven plans.
- Oversee the delivery of end-of-month reports, production statistics and monthly reconciliation outputs.
- Lead and mentor a team of mining engineers, setting clear expectations around safety, quality and delivery.
- Engage with contractor teams to clearly communicate plans and ensure alignment with execution.
About You
You are a technically strong mining engineer with a solid background in open cut haulage planning and scheduling. You are practical, organised and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
Key Experience & Qualifications

- Strong open cut mining experience, with strong exposure to haulage scheduling & dump design.
- Proven experience working in short-term planning or technical services functions.
- Strong understanding of open cut mining operations and contractor interfaces.
- Experience with Deswik, including LHS haulage modelling, and Spry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
