Coronado Global Resources is one of the world's biggest producers of high-quality metallurgical coal. Our global operations are located in two of the largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins in the world, the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia and the Central Appalachian region of the US, servicing customers throughout the Asia-Pacific, Americas and Europe.

Curragh Mine is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin and located only 12 kilometres from the local township of Blackwater.

 

What You'll Do



As a Reliability Engineer reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, you will play a key role in optimising asset performance and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. This Monday to Friday position offers strong work-life balance and the chance to be part of an innovative, supportive team.

Your role will be interesting and varied and will include:

 

  • Lead the development and implementation of reliability strategies to enhance asset performance and extend equipment lifecycle.
  • Apply reliability-cantered maintenance (RCM) and defect elimination methodologies to minimise downtime and boost operational efficiency.
  • Utilise condition monitoring tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis to deliver insights that support proactive maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure cohesive and effective asset management practices.
  • Track and analyse key performance metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and reliability input throughout the project lifecycle, including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.

 

What You'll Bring

 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering (or related field).
  • Proven experience in reliability engineering, ideally within mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong expertise in failure analysis, asset lifecycle management, and ISO55000 principles.
  • Hands-on experience with condition monitoring and reliability analysis tools (e.g., Weibull, FMEA).
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
