Coronado Global Resources is embarking on a new era of leadership at our Curragh Complex, and we are seeking a Mining Manager – Curragh South to take charge of all mining activities, including drilling, blasting, overburden removal, and coal mining.
We are seeking a Mining Manager – Curragh South to lead and optimise all mining activities at our Curragh Complex, including drilling, blasting, overburden removal, and coal mining.
About the Role
As Mining Manager – Curragh South, you will be at the forefront of operational excellence, leading all aspects of surface mining activities in one of Australia’s largest metallurgical coal operations. Reporting to the General Manager – Curragh South, you will have full responsibility for mining operations and oversight of Technical Services, ensuring strong alignment between mine planning, engineering, and execution.
In this role, you will drive productivity and operational excellence and:
- Lead and oversee all mining operations, including drill & blast, overburden removal, dragline operations, and coal mining to meet production targets.
- Drive integration between Technical Services and operations, ensuring plans are executable, optimised, and aligned to business objectives.
- Manage major mining contractor relationships, optimising performance, cost, and delivery outcomes.
- Drive innovation and process efficiency to enhance productivity and cost control.
- Identify opportunities for operational enhancements, ensuring Curragh South remains at the forefront of the industry.
- Drive a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support strategic planning, collaborating with site leadership to align mining operations with business objectives.
About You
You are a results-driven leader with a passion for operational excellence and a proven ability to manage large-scale mining operations. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation, you bring both operational and technical leadership capability and thrive in complex, contractor-driven environments.
Key Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in mining operations leadership, preferably in open-cut coal.
- Strong expertise across drill & blast, overburden removal, and coal mining operations, with dragline experience highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale mining contracts and contractor performance.
- Proven track record in leading high-performing teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Commercial acumen with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- SSE qualification, along with tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
