About the Role

This role is central to Curragh North’s operations, ensuring the effective planning and execution of truck and shovel fleet plans that optimise production outcomes. You will work closely with Operations, Drill & Blast, Contracts, Geology/Geotechnical and Maintenance teams to deliver safe, practical designs that transition seamlessly from plan to pit. The position combines short-term, monthly and mid-term planning with hands-on reconciliation, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the safe planning and execution of truck and shovel fleet operations, ensuring full compliance with site procedures and geotechnical standards.
• Deliver accurate mine design solutions tailored to operational needs, aligned with mid-term mine plans and production forecasts.
• Develop and communicate weekly short-term plans, ensuring alignment between planning, scheduling and operational delivery.
• Own fleet reconciliation processes, including weekly, monthly and end-of-strip compliance reviews, and implement corrective actions as required.
• Design pit walls in collaboration with geotechnical engineers, considering hazard mapping to ensure safety in design.
• Lead planning and reconciliation meetings, provide timely reporting, and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of open-cut coal mining operations and truck/shovel activities.
• Experience in truck or shovel engineering and operational planning.
• Proficient with mine planning and design software, including Maptek Vulcan, 3D-Dig, Spry, and Deswik.
• Skilled in MS Office Suite, including Power BI for reporting and data analysis.
• Capability to translate complex planning and design data into practical operational outcomes.
