About the Role
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join Coronado as a Mining Engineer. In this key role, you will be responsible for budget scheduling, working within the Design and Haulage team to ensure alignment and efficiency across planning processes. You’ll play a critical role in developing and delivering the CY27 budget schedules, with a strong focus on improving production capability and supporting operational excellence at our Curragh Complex. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact within a leading mining operation undergoing continued growth.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of the 2027 budget scheduling process, working closely with the Design and Haulage team to deliver schedules and scenarios that enhance production capability and financial outcomes for the Curragh Complex.
- Use Micromine’s SPRY scheduling software to develop, iterate, and refine multiple mine schedule scenarios based on stakeholder input.
- Collaborate with site stakeholders, our Finance department, and management to review scheduling options and ensure alignment with operational and business objectives.
- Deliver critical schedule iterations (i0 to i3), progressing from current-state analysis through to the final, approved ‘Go-ahead Case’ schedule and comprehensive communication pack.
- Manage delivery timelines, including provision of schedules/statistics to major contractors and the final CY27 budget communication, integrating inputs from key departments such as Capital Projects, Rehabilitation, and Water Management.
- Compile and present detailed documentation including haulage models, reserve sets, key mining area summaries, maintenance planning, and production statistics to support CY27budget approval.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Mining Engineering.
- Extensive mine scheduling experience, with advanced skills in SPRY (essential) and proficiency in Deswik.
- Strong knowledge of coal mining processes, including draglines, truck and shovel, dozer push, and drill and blast.
- Proven communication and presentation skills, with the ability to justify and explain scheduling solutions.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work independently.
- Initiative and drive to achieve best-for-business outcomes.
