Role Overview

 

We’re looking for a driven and collaborative professional to take ownership of our dragline planning and design — a critical function in delivering safe, efficient, and productive outcomes for the business. This is more than a technical role — it’s about leading alignment across departments, influencing strategy, and driving continuous improvement.

Working on an attractive 8/6 roster, you'll be at the heart of a dynamic mining operation where your ideas and expertise will directly shape daily performance and long-term success.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

 

  • Drive collaboration across Technical Services, Operations, Drill & Blast, Contracts, Geology/Geotech, and Maintenance to deliver seamless dragline planning.
  • Create and implement weekly mine plans that reflect both strategic intent and real-world operational needs.
  • Produce accurate, practical dragline designs that align with Curragh’s Planning Systems and standards.
  • Feed into monthly planning cycles, ensuring timely and insightful design inputs.
  • Update face positions and conduct stability assessments, ensuring designs meet high safety standards.
  • Champion integration between mine design and execution across all time horizons.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • A degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in open cut coal mining and in a dedicated Dragline Engineering role.
  • Proficiency in Vulcan (including DL module), 3D-Dig, FPE, and Microsoft Office.
  • A strong understanding of operational realities — and a passion for transforming technical plans into results.
